This Week’s Deep-Value Landscape: Acquirer’s Multiple Large-Cap Screen

Tuesday, June 9, 2026 · Johnny Hopkins

This week’s Acquirer’s Multiple® Large-Cap screen continues to highlight a market where investor attention remains heavily concentrated on artificial intelligence, software, and high-growth technology narratives, while a broad group of mature businesses generating significant cash flow continues to trade at attractive valuations.

Despite ongoing enthusiasm surrounding a relatively narrow segment of the market, many companies across financials, energy, healthcare, telecommunications, consumer sectors, transportation, and industrial businesses continue offering compelling combinations of earnings power, free cash flow generation, and shareholder returns.

Financials remain one of the most prominent themes on this week’s screen. Companies including Bank of New York Mellon (BNY), Northern Trust (NTRS), Synchrony Financial (SYF), SS&C Technologies (SSNC), and Fidelity National Information Services (FIS) continue generating durable earnings and substantial cash flow while trading at valuation levels that remain well below many higher-profile growth companies.

Although investor concerns surrounding economic growth, credit quality, and interest rates persist, many of these businesses continue returning meaningful amounts of capital through dividends and share repurchases while maintaining strong competitive positions within their respective markets.

Energy continues to screen attractively. Companies including Equinor (EQNR), Petrobras (PBR), BP (BP), Shell (SHEL), TotalEnergies (TTE), Cheniere Energy (LNG), and Cheniere Energy Partners (CQP) remain among the most cash-generative businesses in the market.

While concerns surrounding commodity prices and long-term energy demand continue weighing on sentiment, many of these companies maintain strong balance sheets, disciplined capital allocation policies, and significant shareholder return programs that were largely absent during previous energy cycles.

Healthcare remains another significant source of value opportunities. Companies including Cigna (CI), Tenet Healthcare (THC), Novo Nordisk (NVO), Sanofi (SNY), Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMY), Zoetis (ZTS), CVS Health (CVS), and GE HealthCare Technologies (GEHC) continue producing resilient operating results while trading at valuations that appear disconnected from their long-term earnings power.

Many healthcare businesses continue benefiting from recurring demand characteristics, defensive cash flows, and attractive shareholder returns despite investors increasingly focusing on more speculative growth opportunities elsewhere in the market.

Communications and telecommunications companies also feature prominently. Comcast (CMCSA), Charter Communications (CHTR), Verizon Communications (VZ), Telkom Indonesia (TLK), and Ericsson (ERIC) continue operating essential infrastructure businesses while trading at valuation multiples that remain significantly below many technology companies benefiting from current AI enthusiasm.

Several consumer-facing businesses also appear throughout this week’s screen. Target (TGT), Kroger (KR), Lowe’s (LOW), Tractor Supply (TSCO), Best Buy (BBY), Ulta Beauty (ULTA), Unilever (UL), and Fomento Económico Mexicano (FMX) remain examples of established businesses generating meaningful cash flow despite ongoing concerns surrounding consumer spending and economic activity.

Transportation and travel-related businesses such as United Parcel Service (UPS), Ryanair (RYAAY), and Expedia (EXPE) further illustrate the breadth of opportunities available among companies benefiting from durable demand but facing continued investor skepticism regarding cyclical risks.

Bottom Line

This week’s screen continues to reflect a market where many businesses producing strong current cash flows, maintaining resilient profitability, and returning significant capital to shareholders remain overshadowed by dominant growth narratives.

The opportunity set remains broad across financials, energy, healthcare, telecommunications, transportation, and consumer-facing businesses where valuations continue implying significantly weaker long-term economics than current operating performance appears to support.
