VALUE: After Hours (S08 E04): Small-Cap Value Stocks Are Beating Growth Again — Is the Rotation Real?

Monday, February 9, 2026 · Johnny Hopkins

During their recent episode, Taylor, Carlisle, and Unemployed Value Degen (Stephen Farrington) discussed Small-Cap Value Stocks Are Beating Growth Again — Is the Rotation Real?. Here’s an excerpt from the episode:

[Tobias] So tell us what’s happening in small value land.

[Steve] Well, after years of being kicked around, toward last fall, it started to feel, you know, cautiously optimistic, like there maybe was some kind of rotation going on. And it’s been continuing now through January. And if you look at the Morningstar style box going out three months, I think that bottom left-hand corner, small value is something like up 15%.
And the upper right-hand corner for large growth is down 5%. I could have my numbers off, but it was something like 20 points of outperformance of small value over large growth.

[Jake] I send that to Toby about three times a day.

[Steve] Well, I mean, we’ve earned it after these last few years of everybody who bought NVIDIA just, you know, being high on life and us value guys saying it’s going to work eventually, it’s going to work eventually, it’s going to work eventually. And it’s finally working.
