Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) Q3 2025 Earnings Call — “Thrilling the Audience”
Wednesday, November 5, 2025 · Johnny Hopkins

Co-CEO Gregory Peters opened Netflix’s Q3 2025 earnings call by affirming that “the business is very healthy.” He said the company had “revenue in line with expectations” and that “operating income would have exceeded our forecast absent the Brazilian tax matter.”
Peters noted record engagement and ad sales, saying, “We achieved record share of TV time in Q3 in both the US and the UK. We recorded our best ad sales quarter ever. We are now on track to more than double ad revenue this year.”
He added that Netflix is “continuing to build out both live offerings and games as emerging capabilities,” pointing to “Canelo Crawford, which was the most viewed men’s championship fight this century,” and the new ability to “play Netflix games on TV with friends and family… using just the TV and the phone as the game controller.”
Co-CEO Ted Sarandos emphasized that Netflix remains early in its growth curve: “We continue to have a massive opportunity since we are only about 7% of the addressable market in terms of consumer spending and only about 10% of time spent on TV in our biggest markets.”
He said, “We thrive on competition. It pushes us to improve the service even faster for our members.” Highlighting the global impact of Netflix originals, he cited “this summer’s K-Pop Demon Hunters — our most popular film ever,” calling it “emblematic of exactly what we are trying to do every day.”
The company announced Mattel and Hasbro as “global co-master toy licensees for K-Pop Demon Hunters,” which Sarandos said shows “how big we could take this.”
CFO Spencer Neumann explained that the Brazilian tax issue “is not an income tax… it is a gross tax on outbound payments,” noting that “absent this expense, we would have exceeded our Q3 2025 operating income and operating margin forecast.”
Looking ahead, he reiterated Netflix’s financial discipline: “Our objectives are unchanged — to sustain healthy revenue growth, expand margins, and increase free cash flow.”
Advertising remains a growing pillar. Peters said, “We more than doubled our US upfront commitments,” adding that advertisers are drawn to Netflix’s “highly attentive and engaged audience.” He said the rollout of Netflix’s ad suite “means we have more formats, more measurement, more ways to buy.”
Engagement also climbed: “Total view hours grew a bit faster in Q3 2025 than in the first half of 2025,” Peters said. Netflix achieved “our highest quarterly view share ever in the United States at 8.6% and in the UK at 9.4%.” Sarandos added that success comes from “a steady drumbeat of shows and films that our members love.”
On AI, Peters said Netflix has “a long history of developing ML and AI solutions” and sees “a huge number of places in the business where we can bring these technologies in.”
Sarandos concluded, “We are confident that AI is going to help us and help our creative partners tell stories better, faster, and in new ways… We are not worried about AI replacing creativity. We are very excited about AI creating tools to help creativity.”
